Pictures are nice but a video is 100 times better. This is actual video we took one night wearing the Lighthouse Beacon 1000 Headlamp. Yeah… It really is that bright.

We got a message today from No Boundaries Outdoors saying that they had posted a review of the Lighthouse Beacon 1000 Headlamp. We were immediately excited because we know they’ve been putting our headlamp through the wringer and really testing it out. So here is their review. Enjoy!

If there is one question that many customers have asked me, it is this:
Do we have green and red filters for the LHB-1000 headlamp.
The answer is: We are working on it but we don’t have them yet.
First off… why would you want a filter on your headlamp or flashlight?
Green filter: Green filters are mostly used in hunting because green lights don’t frighten animals. They are also used in tactics A green beam can’t be seen from aside and makes it impossible to disclose your exact location.
Red filter: Red light is good if you need to see but don’t want to disturb your night vision. Great for reading maps and navigating. Also can be used as a signal light.
Today we received an email from a customer who made his own green filter. He was kind enough to take pictures to share with everyone.
He started with a Butler Creek Flip-Open Scope Cover that fits over the head of the LHB-1000 headlamp.
Butler Creek Flip-Open Scope Cover
It’s a tight fit… but it does go on.
Butler Creek Flip-Open Scope Cover on the LHB-1000 Headlamp.
He bought his at Gander Mountain. I bought mine on Amazon.
He then bought a hard plastic green plate. (You could do red.) You can find one at a dollar store or party supply store.
Green lens cut from a plastic plate.
He put painters tape on the plate and cut it to match the lens of the flip-cover. He then glued it onto the inside with silicon glue, leaving the original lens in place.
The final product. The LHB-1000 Headlamp with a green flip-cover filter.
And there’s the result! Pretty good! I think it’s brilliant that he used a flip-cover lens. This allows him to use the headlamp with or without the filter when he is in the field or simply take the entire unit off when he isn’t using it at all.
Thank you, Mark for this wonderful contribution! We really appreciate it!

Headlamps are awesome. Well… at least some headlamps are.
In most cases, your average throw-away hardware store headlamp is not awesome. But let’s be honest here. There are some cases where it might be awesome.
So… When IS your average sissy hardware store headlamp awesome?
If you’re a 3-year-old that breaks everything in 5 minutes… then it might be awesome.
If you want to give a headlamp as a gift to someone you hate… then it might be awesome.
If you went on a drinking binge the night before; have a terrible hangover and bright lights hurt your eyes… then it might be awesome.
So… if you fall into one of these categories and are in need of a headlamp, then you should definitely go to the nearest hardware store and buy a normal headlamp. You aren’t going to want to buy ours. Because the LHB-1000 ain’t for sissies!
